Shinya Nitta, M.D. graduated from Kanazawa Medical University, and worked with Keigo Okonogi, M.D. at Keio University. Later, he experienced training analysis at Menninger Clinic, and was advised by Glen O. Gabbard, M.D. and coworkers. After returning to Japan, he was involved in psychoanalysis for 15 years at Nitta Clinic, where he wrote this book.

This book is a digest version of The Integration Theory of Psychoanalysis. It introduces a vast volume of content in a compact form. I have published The Integration Theory of Psychoanalysis on my own account as Freud did with The Interpretation of Dreams. I did not contribute any portion of my book to technical journals in Japan and  abroad for two reasons.  First, I missed the opportunity to contribute portions of my book as separate fragments because I had been writing about this material for more than 20 years. Second, I was doubtful as to whether my studies would find acceptance among researchers who maintained allegiance to Freud. I produced a thorough revision of conventional psychoanalysis and made a feasible means of treating psychoses. However, for the future development of psychiatry and psychoanalysis, people will need to understand and master The Integration Theory of Psychoanalysis.
